So, is self-transformation just the current buzzword for self-actualization, which followed self-realization? I have been through all those terms-of-the-times. I do consider “spiritual exercises” a legitimate expression. Anything from quiet reflection, through meditation and, yes, prayer are self-helpful to the supplicant, so long as that seeker truly believes in the help. Donald Davidson said belief is a propositional attitude. Nothing untoward about that, as long as it is not directed towards conversions of those who do not want to be converted.
